NILAI, Negeri Sembilan – A bus driver and six passengers suffered light injuries after the vehicle crashed into an overhead height barrier along Jalan Arab Malaysian-Bukit Mahkota in the Malaysian state of Negeri Sembilan.

A Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said the department received a call about the incident at about 10.30pm on July 4.

Police said the driver claimed he did not see the structure as he was using Waze navigation app.

The impact of the crash left the express bus stuck underneath the barrier.

“The driver was not aware of the barrier when the incident occurred, and he was also using Waze for navigation,” Kajang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Naazron Abdul Yusof said on July 5.

The bus was travelling from Kuantan, the state capital of Pahang and was on the way to the southern states of Negeri Sembilan and Melaka when the accident occurred.

Asst Comm Naazron said the bus was ferrying 22 passengers, including three children.

“Seven people, including the driver, were injured. Four of them were sent to Hospital Serdang while three others were sent to Hospital Tunku Jaafar, Seremban.

“Passengers who were not injured were picked up by their family members at the scene of the action,” he added.

Asst Comm Naazron said the case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for careless and inconsiderate driving. THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK
