JOHOR BARU (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - A cargo train from Johor Port heading towards Pasir Gudang has derailed and rolled onto a road here.
State health, environment, education and information committee chairman Datuk Ayub Rahmat said the locomotive pulling 31 carriages was driven by two KTM Bhd crewmen and derailed at around 11.55am on Friday (June 30).
It is learnt that the train was going through a railroad crossing when one of its wheels came off, causing it to derail.
No injuries have been reported so far.
Ayub said efforts to clear the road are still underway.
"Vehicles heading towards Johor Baru to Tanjung Langsat and vice versa should find alternative routes as the derailed train is blocking traffic," he said.
