JOHOR BAHRU – A 45-year-old blacksmith is expected to be brought to a Magistrate’s Court in Johor on Feb 17 for attacking another man with a meat cleaver.
Johor Bahru Southern District police chief Assistant Commissioner (AC) Raub Selamat said the victim, a 43-year-old unemployed man, had received medical attention at Hospital Sultanah Aminah for his head injuries as a result of the drunken brawl, which took place near Merlin Tower at Jalan Meldrum on Feb 11 afternoon.
“The victim is recovering well. He was hospitalised and discharged a day later.
“Meanwhile, the suspect is expected to be charged in court on Monday,” he said in a statement on Feb 16.
It was previously reported that the argument between the two intoxicated men near Jalan Meldrum in the city centre escalated into violence when the suspect attacked the other with a meat cleaver.
AC Raub reportedly said that both men were strangers, loitering and drinking at the scene before the incident unfolded. THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK
