3 killed in stampede at wedding party of West Java governor’s son

 People were crushed and trampled on as they tried to enter the square through the main gate.

People reportedly descended on the wedding celebration venue – the public square of Garut, West Java – before the party started at 1pm on July 18.

JAKARTA – At least three people were killed and 27 others injured in a stampede at a wedding celebration for the deputy regent of Garut and a son of West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi. The event was open to the public.

The deadly incident took place on July 18 in the public square of Garut, West Java, where a pesta rakyat, or public party, was held to celebrate the wedding of Mr Dedi’s eldest son, Mr Maula Akbar Mulyadi, and Garut deputy regent Luthfianisa Putri Karlina. The couple tied the knot on July 17.
