PETALING JAYA – A 3.4-magnitude earthquake was detected in Segamat, Johor at 4.24am on Aug 29.

It was the fourth earthquake to hit the state in five days.

According to the Malaysia Meteorological Department, MetMalaysia, the quake originated 22km to the north-east of Segamat and 10km underground.

“The tremors were felt in Johor. The department will continue to monitor the situation,” it stated in a Facebook post on Aug 29.

Segamat had earlier recorded three weak earthquakes on Aug 24, 27 and 28, with magnitudes ranging between 2.5 and 4.1. THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK
