In Pictures: Typhoon Goni hits the Philippines and Japan
The storm slammed through the Philippines on Monday, killing 26 despite an evacuation of more than 30,000 people from their homes. The Philippines is still grappling with rescue work as villages were stranded without power and roads were cleared. Typhoon Goni has now moved north and hit landfall in Japan, injuring 13 people and disrupting rail and flight services. The country's weather agency has issued evacuation advisories to some 100,000 residents. Neighbouring countries of China and South Korea also felt the fringe effects of the storm as strong winds and rain hit cities like Shanghai and Busan.
