WELLINGTON – A Jetstar Airways aircraft had steering issues while landing at Christchurch Airport on the morning of May 31, the airline said in a statement, with local media reporting it left the runway.
Jetstar, which is owned by Qantas Airways, said it had veered on the runway.
It said there were no injuries to passengers or crew and the aircraft had been towed to the gate and all passengers had disembarked.
Due to the runway closure then, a Singapore Airlines flight scheduled to touch down in Christchurch at 9.30am local time (5.30am Singapore time) was rerouted to an Auckland airport.
SIA Flight SQ297, which had 238 passengers and 15 crew members on board, landed in Auckland at about 9.40am local time, said a spokesperson for the airline.
The plane left for Christchurch an hour later and arrived at 12.15pm local time.
At 10.40am local time, Christchurch Airport said the main runway had reopened, the local media reported. REUTERS
