SEOUL – President Yoon Suk Yeol’s unexpected, and short-lived, declaration of martial law sparked off multiple demonstrations across South Korea on Dec 4, as protesters of all hues rallied to demand that he step down.
The largest demonstration took place near Gwanghwamun Square in north-western Seoul, where organisers estimate that over 10,000 people attended a candlelight rally.
