South Korean low-cost carrier T’way Air will be renamed Trinity Airways, said the Daemyung Sono Group, which owns the airline.

The group, which completed its acquisition of the carrier in June 2025, said on Sept 8 that a name change after 14 years is part of efforts to ready the carrier for global expansion and brand renewal.

A new name, along with a redesign of aircraft exteriors and brand overhaul, will be rolled out in the first half of 2026.

The firm will also introduce a unified membership programme and customised travel packages as part of its rebranding effort.

Trinity Airways said it plans to improve tie-ups between its airline routes and Sono Group’s hotel and resort facilities across Asia, Europe and the Americas.

The Sono Hospitality Group is the largest resort operator in South Korea, with over 18 hotels and resorts nationwide with over 11,000 rooms.

The carrier was first launched as Hansung Airlines, South Korea’s first low-cost carrier in 2004. The company later adopted the T’way Air brand in 2010.

T’way now Air flies routes to Seoul and Jeju in South Korea, from Singapore.

The name Trinity is derived from the Latin word Trinitas, which means “three in one”. The name change is meant to symbolise completeness through unity.

“We aim to unlock new possibilities in the aviation industry with a focus on customer safety and sustainability,” said the airline in a statement.
