TAINAN/CHANGHUA/YILAN – The Hollywood movie posters hanging outside Chuan Mei Theatre in the southern Taiwanese city of Tainan are not your average printed billboards.

Some of the lettering in the one promoting Top Gun: Maverick, for one thing, is slightly crooked, and the brushstrokes on Tom Cruise’s face are clearly visible.
