For more than 48 hours in early July, Japan’s largest shipping port by trading volume was

paralysed by a ransomware attack

for which a Russian cybercrime organisation claimed responsibility.

And on July 19, Japan’s Personal Information Protection Commission began a probe into the Digital Agency after a series of errors involving the 12-digit My Number identity system.
