China's national carbon market needs major changes to be effective: Experts

BEIJING - China's long-awaited national carbon market opened last week to big expectations that it would help China slash emissions.

But experts say it could take the market years to do so, with some doubtful that it would move the needle meaningfully on the country's environmental goals without drastic changes.
