BEIJING - China has sent war planes into Taiwan's air defence zone for four days in a row, in a show of force just as the mainland celebrates its National Day holiday.

Analysts say that although a military invasion is not imminent, the sorties mark a significant escalation of military pressure just days before Oct 10, when Taiwan celebrates its own National Day.
