BEIJING - When China marked the 100th anniversary of the birth of Hua Guofeng last month, some political pundits saw it as rehabilitation of the late Chinese Communist Party chairman who never was.
Hua was Chairman Mao Zedong's anointed heir, serving as premier and concurrently the party's first vice-chairman when the Great Helmsman died on Sept 9, 1976.
