US Ambassador to the United Nations Kelly Craft's visit was aimed at reinforcing the US government's support for Taiwan's international participation.

Taiwan's Foreign Ministry said yesterday it was regrettable that US Ambassador to the United Nations Kelly Craft had to cancel her visit to the island at the last minute, in compliance with the US State Department's latest travel order.
But the ministry "understands and respects the decision of the State Department", it said in a statement.
