With just under 80 days to go before the Winter Paralympic Games, officials say the three areas hosting the games - Beijing, Yanqing and Zhangjiakou - will be made wheelchair-accessible, as well as easy to navigate for the visually impaired.
But in a country where the visually impaired are often shunted into becoming masseuses or piano tuners, and most infrastructure is inaccessible to people with disabilities, some activists say that meaningful change is still a long way off.
