SYDNEY – In ordinary times, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese might have expected to be politically rewarded for his recent successes on the global stage.
In the past month, he was hosted to a rare state dinner at the White House by United States President Joe Biden, and then he met Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing, marking the first visit to China by an Australian leader since 2016.
