SINGAPORE - Australian Governor -General Sir Peter Cosgrove on Tuesday (Sept 22) visited the four koalas on loan from Australia at the Singapore Zoo.

Sir Peter was accompanied by his wife Lady Lynne Cosgrove and children from the Avondale Grammar School in Singapore during the visit to the zoo's koala exhibit.

The four female marsupials arrived in Singapore in April on a six-month loan to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, as well as Singapore's Jubilee celebrations.

Sir Peter and his wife patted Manja, also known as Pellita, as she fed on eucalyptus leaves.

The Australian Governor-General arrived on Monday for a four-day visit and attended a welcome ceremony by President Tony Tan Keng Yam at the Istana. He was also hosted to a state banquet on Monday night.

Sir Peter will meet Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong later on Tuesday.
