SINGAPORE - A man was on Tuesday (Sept 19) charged with sticking toothpicks into bus seats with the sharp ends pointing out.

Lim Lye Seng, 60, is accused of four counts of mischief, causing over $1,300 in damage.

He is said to have committed the offences four times between July and August, on board SBS Transit bus service number 123M as it was travelling along Lower Delta Road.

He is accused of perforating each bus seat with three toothpicks.

Lim, who was unrepresented, intends to plead guilty to his offences and told the court that he wants to engage a lawyer.

He will be back in court on Sept 27.

For each count of mischief, he can be jailed up to a year and fined.
