CAIRO (AFP) - The United States on Sunday unveiled US$212 million (S$270 million) in aid to help the devastated Gaza Strip, with top US diplomat John Kerry telling a donors conference that the Palestinians need immediate assistance.

The humanitarian challenge was "enormous," Mr Kerry told the Cairo meeting, adding "the people of Gaza do need our help, desperately, not tomorrow, not next week, they need it now."
