ISIS slams publication of new Prophet Muhammad cartoon by Charlie Hebdo as stupid

PARIS (AFP) - The militant Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) says the publication of a new cartoon depicting Prophet Muhammad by satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo is "stupid".

The new issue that went on sale on Wednesday features a cover cartoon of Prophet Muhammad weeping and holding a "Je Suis Charlie" (I am Charlie) sign under the headline "All is forgiven".

It was the first issue to be published after an attack by two gunmen on Charlie Hebdo's Paris office that left 12 people dead.

The new issue sold out across France just hours after it hit newsstands, the UNDP union representing news vendors throughout the country said on Wednesday.

A total of 700,000 issues of the magazine were distributed early Wednesday, but other copies of the magazine will be made available for sale throughout the week.
