The charges against three alleged rioters were withdrawn on Monday afternoon.

Indian nationals Karuppiah Thirunavukkarasu, Ganesan Ashokkumar and Anbarasan Vel Murugan received a discharge amounting to an acquittal.

The case against seven other alleged rioters were also heard in Court on Monday. The prosecution applied for bail to be denied citing public safety concerns and the chance of the seven re-offending.

This was denied by the court which granted bail to the defendants to the tune of $20,000 with one guarantor or $10,000 with two guarantors.

When out on bail, the accused must report to investigating officers once a week and will not be allowed to visit areas in Little India covered by the alcohol ban.
