Seven hurt in 12-car collision on KPE

Seven people were injured in a pile-up of 12 cars on the rightmost lane of the Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE) yesterday. At 9.38am, the Land Transport Authority posted on Twitter about the accident in the direction of East Coast Parkway, before the Tampines Road exit, and advised motorists to avoid Lane 1. The Singapore Civil Defence Force was alerted to it around 9.45am, and sent three ambulances. Three women and four men were conscious when taken to hospital - five to Singapore General Hospital, and two to Raffles Hospital. The Straits Times understands that their injuries were not life-threatening. Police investigations are ongoing.
