SINGAPORE - The NTUC FairPrice Foundation has donated $1.2 million to the FairPrice Food Voucher scheme, which will help about 20,000 low-income households.

This is a 20 per cent increase from last year's contribution of $1 million.

The cheque was presented to the People's Association (PA) on Sunday (Dec 13), at a Deepavali celebration held at the Taman Jurong Park.

The two organisations have been working together since 2002, and over the past 14 years, disbursed $13.2 million to needy families across all 89 constituencies islandwide, through grassroot organisations and selected welfare organisations.

Mr Ang Hak Seng, chief executive director of PA, said: "We are happy to work with more corporate and community organisations in reaching out to the less-privileged in the community so as to build a better Singapore for all."

Mr Bobby Chin, chairman of NTUC FairPrice and NTUC FairPrice Foundation, said the organisation will continue to fulfil its commitment to help provide a better life for the less fortunate in the community.
