Found: MP's missing dog

RESIDENTS of Khatib need not worry anymore - Blackie has been found.

The mongrel, also known as Xiao Hei, was adopted by Nee Soon GRC MP Lee Bee Wah in 2007 after appeals from residents to save it. Blackie went missing last Friday and was found yesterday evening at Block 203B in Sengkang.

"When I found out (about Blackie's disappearance), I was quite disturbed and wondered if something bad had happened. I'm very relieved that she has been found," said Ms Ranjini Ganapathy, a 29-year-old teacher, who lives at Block 824 in Yishun Street 81.

That was the area where Xiao Hei used to roam as a stray.

Over 800 people online had shared a photo of the dog which the MP had posted last Saturday, and sent encouraging messages to her family.

Yesterday morning, Ms Lee's husband received a tip-off from someone who had spotted the dog near Nan Chiau Primary School in Sengkang. Her relatives and friends rushed over, but it ran away.

The search went on for another three hours with several Sengkang residents joining in. "A young boy who lost his dog twice helped us search and at 5pm someone called to say that she spotted Xiao Hei near Block 205," said Ms Lee.

"We are so happy to have found her and are very grateful for all the help we have received. This is the best Mother's Day present."
