A delivery driver, who broke the ribs of his girlfriend and another woman, was jailed for 12 months on Wednesday for causing grievous hurt and insulting modesty.
Mohamad Affindi Mohd Ali, 37, admitted to two counts of causing grievous hurt and taking an upskirt video of a colleague.
A district court heard that Mohamad Affindi, a divorcee with three children, came to know a 26-year-old woman in 2011. They became a couple soon after that.
She cannot be named as there is a gag order from the court on this.
They were at his former flat in Jurong East on Nov 3, 2011 when they argued over her alleged affair with a male colleague.
During the argument, he slapped her repeatedly, punched and kicked her on the stomach and whipped her back with a belt.
The victim suffered a broken rib and other injuries on her face, arms and back.
During their investigation, police officers found two upskirt videos of his female colleague. They had been taken at his office in Woodlands Civic Centre between late 2009 and early 2010.
Mohamad Affindi's other victim who also had her ribs broken is his girlfriend, Ms Esther Ong Mei Fong, 28. He intends to wed her after serving his prison sentence, said his lawyer, Mr Louis Joseph.
The couple had been quarrelling over relationship problems and other personal issues since Sept 7 last year.
On an occasion between Sept 7 and 17, they quarrelled at Pasir Ris Park along Elias Road. He accused her of cheating on him. He grabbed her by her arms, pushed her to the floor and kicked her in the abdomen.
The court heard that they made up about half an hour later and left the park.
On separate occasions during the same period, the victim was again punched in the abdomen and assaulted regularly. She sought medical treatment and was found to have bruises all over her body. Two of her ribs were also broken.
District Judge Shawn Ho, who took four other charges into consideration, told Mohamad Affindi that his conduct was appalling, and that his actions demonstrated a total lack of respect for women.
