The public hearings into the Dec 8 riot in Little India will resume on Tuesday, after the Committee of Inquiry granted the State Counsel's application for adjournment as key witnesses were unable to testify today.

The committee had asked to first hear evidence from two senior police officers, Commander of Tanglin Police Division, Deputy Assistant Commissioner (DAC) Lu Yeow Lim and Deputy Director of Operations, DAC Koh Wei Keong. This was though three witnesses from the Special Operations Command (SOC) had originally been scheduled to take the stand today.

The SOC witnesses included Deputy Assistant Commissioner (DAC) David Scott Arul, who was the acting commander of the SOC on the night of the riot. The state had told the committee that his evidence "was likely to be substantial", and he was supposed to be the first witness on Monday. He was expected to be followed by Acting Inspector Ramadas Ramachandra, the Officer Commanding of the SOC Intel Unit, and Deputy Superintendent Lim Sin Bin, the Officer Commanding of one of the two SOC troops which had responded to the incident.

State Counsel David Khoo then applied for an adjournment, as both DAC Lu and DAC Koh were unable to attend today.
