SINGAPORE - A 59-year-old man was arrested for suspected drink driving after crashing his car into a pole along Sims Avenue on Tuesday (July 5) morning.

A police spokesman told The Straits Times that it received a call for assistance at 2.56am. Upon arrival, it was established that an accident involving one car had occurred at the location.

The driver was subsequently arrested.

A Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) spokesman said it dispatched a fire engine, a red rhino and an ambulance to the scene. The driver declined to be taken to hospital, SCDF added.

It is understood that there were no other casualties from the accident, but the pole which had Hari Raya decorations on it was damaged.
