Should toddlers play with mobile phones?

Too much time on devices isn’t good for your child, but neither is guilt-tripping yourself about it. The key is not to let their use steal your nurturing joy.

School-going children using their mobile phones while on their way home has become a common sight on public transport. Even in my own home, it can sometimes be a battle to get my kids to set aside their devices and focus on their homework and other responsibilities.

But what about babies or pre-schoolers under the age of six? Should they be given phones just to distract them, so they can sit through a meal without a fuss?
