Nato lands in Asia

The transatlantic security grouping could get more of a welcome in Asia than currently expected.

So, Japan is set to give the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (Nato) a toehold in Asia.

The Western alliance’s planned new liaison office in Tokyo – to open in 2024 – will be the first of its kind in Asia and will allow Nato to conduct periodic consultations with Japan and other key partners such as Australia, South Korea and New Zealand.
