SINGAPORE - TELCO StarHub has followed SingTel and M1's lead to raise 4G subscription prices. StarHub's move comes on the back of the launch of the new Apple iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, which will be available this Friday.
The monthly subscription for the most basic 4G plan will be $42.90 a month for 150 minutes of outgoing calls, 1,000 SMS and 3GB data allowance.
This is $3 more than the existing basic SmartSurf mobile plan, priced at $38 a month with a $2.14 extra for the 4G add-on service. However, the older plan comes with only 100 minutes of outgoing calls, 800 SMS and 2GB of data allowance.
The old SmartSurf plans will no longer be on sale to new and recontracting customers from this Friday.
The basic iPhone 6 16GB handset will cost $518 under StarHub's new monthly plan which will cost $42.90. Under the same plan, the iPhone 6 Plus 16GB handset will retail at $657.

Last Friday, M1 was the first to release iPhone prices, with the announcement of pricier monthly 4G subsciptions. M1's i-Lite+ plan will have a monthly fee of $41, $2 more than before.
The basic iPhone 6 16GB handset will cost $525 under the M1 plan.
SingTel was the first to raise monthly subscriptions last month, with mobile users who renew their contracts paying $3 more for their monthly subscriptions.
Its basic plan costs the same as StarHub's at $42.90 a month, but customers get 200 outgoing minutes, 1,000 SMS and 2GB of data allowance. Under the plan, basic iPhone 6 16GB handset will cost $518 and iPhone 6 Plus 16GB handset, $648.

**Since June (2014), StarHub has been charging new and re-contracting customers an add-on fee of $2.14 a month (usual: $10.70/month) for 4G services.
SingTel and M1 have yet to charge the $10.70/mth add-on fee for 4G services
