Mr Lee Kuan Yew remains 'critically ill', condition has deteriorated further: PMO

SINGAPORE - Former prime minister Lee Kuan Yew remains "critically ill" and his condition has deteriorated further, according to a statement by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) on Wednesday.

This comes after the PMO issued an update on Tuesday saying that Mr Lee's condition had worsened due to an infection.

It added that Mr Lee is on antibiotics and the doctors are closely monitoring his condition.

Mr Lee, 91, has been hospitalised in the Singapore General Hospital since Feb 5, when he was admitted for severe pneumonia.

Before this week, the previous update on Mr Lee's health was issued on Friday, when the PMO said his condition remained "largely unchanged" from a stable state.

Prior to that, the PMO released a statement on March 6 saying Mr Lee had improved slightly and continued to be watched closely by his doctors.
