Two men suspected of vandalising fire hoses arrested

SINGAPORE - Two men have been arrested for allegedly cutting fire hose nozzles.

The suspects, aged 20 and 23, are believed to be behind a series of cases where fire hose nozzles were cut and discovered missing around Bukit Batok Street 24.

The police received a report on July 3 of one such case involving fire hose reels inside a multi-storey carpark along Bukit Batok Street 24. Three weeks later, both suspects were caught near Ubi Ave 1.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the two men had committed similar acts of vandalism on fire hoses in several other multi-storey carparks in Bukit Batok.

Both men are expected to be charged on July 26 for vandalism with common intention.

If convicted, they could face a fine of up to $2,000 and imprisonment of up to three years. They could also be given three to eight strokes of the cane.
