NEW YORK - Angelina Jolie has opened up about her marriage to Brad Pitt, admitting that she has limitations as a good wife.

Her interview with Tom Brokaw on Today show aired on Tuesday as In Touch magazine publishes what it describes as pictures of the actress-director and her husband Pitt in an "explosive fight".

Another picture shows Jolie, an advocate for preventative cancer surgery, holding a cigarette.

The couple married on Aug 23 after being together for 10 years and are raising six children.

"We have more moments where I say, 'I'm going to be a better wife. I'm going to learn to cook,' and he says, 'Oh honey, know what you're good at, know what you're not,'" she said, laughing. 'No, no, I'm gonna get this wife thing down!' But he knows my limitations and where I'm a good wife and a good mom."

She admitted that things really are different since they made the decision to say "I do", reports citing the interview by New York Daily News and Us Weekly said.

"It did change," she said about finally marrying Pitt.

She said "recommitting after 10 years of being together" added a "a feeling of that security and comfort that we always had".

"And we were fortunate enough to be in that unusual situation where we got married with our children, and they were a part of the ceremony and they wrote some of the vows."

"So it was all of us agreeing to be together and to commit to this life together - not because we had to, not because anything was missing in our lives, but because we were absolutely sure," she added, on how

After their wedding, they began filming By The Sea, a romantic drama set in the 1970s.

On the film, she said, "Ten years on we've learnt a lot about each other. It was a film about a very troubled marriage, and it felt like the appropriate thing to do on our honeymoon."

Meanwhile, In Touch's latest cover pictures show Jolie smoking on Nov 17 on the balcony of the couple's hotel suite in Sydney, Australia, hours before the premiere of her new film Unbroken.

While the couple could have been in an agitated conversation, In Touch says they appeared upset, and Pitt, seen with his hands aloft as he faces her, looks frustrated.

Jolie has had preventative double mastectomy to avoid breast cancer and Pitt does not want her to smoke, In Touch says.

"While it may be a stress-reliever during the fight, Brad is appalled by his wife's decision to light up, an insider says," as reported by In Touch.

It alleged that at Unbroken's Sydney premiere, they appeared "distant" with each other, and the globe-trotting couple left in separate jets.

The pictures have led to some theorising on the Internet.

Were they simply rehearsing lines for marriage drama By The Sea, which she wrote and directs and in which they both star?

Perhaps Jolie set it all up, wanting the paparazzi shots to be taken?

She is after all on a promotion blitz for Unbroken, which debuts in the United States on Dec 25.

The movie, about Olympic athlete turned Japanese prisoner of war, Louis Zamperini, is already the subject of Oscar buzz as a contender for Best Picture.

Jolie does not have a publicist but is master in manipulating her public image, the New York Times had reported in 2008.

On Tuesday, she appeared without Pitt but accompanied by several British Armed Forces veterans at the London premiere of Unbroken.
