Fancy some fine wine delivered to your doorstep, and without costing a fortune? That is what the new ST Wine initiative aims to deliver.

ST Wine, in collaboration with wine authority Robert Parker Wine Advocate, will work with reputable wine merchants here to curate and deliver a special selection of highly rated wines for readers of The Straits Times. The wine authority is internationally renowned for its 100-point wine rating system.

From today, readers will be able to purchase wine subscriptions and choose to have two, three or four bottles delivered every month.

With an ST Wine Club subscription, readers can look forward to a surprise monthly package of top-rated wines with scores of 90 Robert Parker points and above.

Readers can select from three subscription plans: •

• A starter pack at $88 for a two-bottle sampler of wines rated 85 to 89 Robert Parker points, meant for those who are just starting to discover the joys of wine.

• Gold from $128 a month, for wine from vineyards in places such as Australia, New Zealand, the United States and South America.

• Platinum from $188 a month, for fine wines from France, Italy and Spain.

In the case of Gold and Platinum plans, the starting prices are for two bottles for one month. Readers can opt for up to four bottles as well as a longer plan of three or six months.

ST editor Warren Fernandez, who is also editor-in-chief of Singapore Press Holdings' English, Malay and Tamil Media (EMTM) Group, said: "We know that many of our readers enjoy a drink with their favourite foods, from wines to whiskies.

"We want to make discovering great wines fun and fuss-free for more of them, and this ST Wine Club will do just that."

ST Wine is the latest initiative under the ST+ programme, which aims to offer more benefits to both subscribers and readers.

The ST Wine Club subscription will also come with free access to the Robert Parker Wine Advocate online portal, which offers reports that wine lovers will find useful.

An annual subscription to the portal typically costs about $140.

ST Wine is also launched with support from official card American Express and official beauty partner Elizabeth Arden. As a treat to those who sign up for the three- and six- month packages, Elizabeth Arden is giving each subscriber a goodie bag with more than $250 worth of cosmetic and treatment packages.

By early next year, ST Wine subscribers will also be treated to offers and privileges at various fine restaurants around Singapore.

Mr Tan Ooi Boon, EMTM's senior vice-president of business development, said: "This is just the beginning. We will work hard to deliver more and more benefits under the ST+ programme for all our subscribers and readers. It is our way of saying a big thank you to everyone for being with us."
