TAIPEI - Taiwanese-British actor Rhydian Vaughan announced on Facebook that he is going to become a dad.

The Monga (2010) hunk opened his post on Sunday by writing: "Where do I start? It's been 27 years since I've come to this world. It's not really long and not really short."

"Love in its changing form is always out to test me... Very happy to share with everyone. I'm about to enter another stage of life. I'm going to become a father!"

The baby is a surprise for Vaughan and his girlfriend, Jessie Hong, who has represented Taiwan in surfing competitions, said his agent. They will consider wedding plans after the birth next year.

They dated for two years and share a love for surfing, United Daily News said. Hong, also 27, has Myanmarese blood and operates an American-style diner in Taipei, said Apple Daily. She was a 2012 runner-up in an international women's shortboard surfing tournament.

Vaughan played Ethan Ruan's and Mark Chao's gangster friend Dragon Lee in Monga.

He has left for London to work on the Chinese remake of the Julia Roberts romantic comedy My Best Friend's Wedding (1997), opposite Shu Qi and William Feng, UDN said.
