Canadian hip hop artist Drake takes home a record-breaking 13 Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas Sunday night, eclipsing a previous record of 12 trophies set by Adele back in 2012.

LOS ANGELES (REUTERS) - Canadian hip hop artist Drake took home a record-breaking 13 Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas Sunday (May 21) night, eclipsing a previous record of 12 trophies set by Adele back in 2012.

Other winners include Blake Shelton snagging the prize for top country artist, and Justin Timberlake's Can't Stop the Feeling winning for best- selling song and top radio song.

After a show-stopping performance of some of her biggest hits, 71-year-old Cher won the Icon Award for achievement in music.

Last year's Billboard Icon Award winner, Celine Dion also delivering an emotional performance of her classic, My Heart Will Go on from the 'Titanic' soundtrack, marking 20 years since its release.

Beyoncé also won five awards, but did not attend the ceremony.
