SONOMA, California – Vineyard tours and boozy tastings are lovely when you are single. Not so much when you have a pre-schooler hanging off your neck.

As a mother to a four-year-old, I had initially written off “grown-up” holidays in North California’s wine regions. But the trick, I have found, is not to think of NorCal as simply a wine lover’s pilgrimage.
