INDIA – Standing in a dusty alley in Old Delhi two hours after getting off our red-eye flight from Singapore, my sister and I are figuring out the way to the nihari shop, which sells slow-cooked meat stew. 

It is her first trip to India and there are only two rules – no ice, challenging since June is sweltering; and no cut fruit. Everything else is fair game.
