Library patrons shouldn't hog seats

We thank Mr Tan Wee Tat for his feedback on seats in the libraries ("Seat-hogging in libraries"; Forum Online, July 29).

We agree with Mr Tan that users should not hog seats in the library, especially during peak hours.

Our staff regularly advise users who leave their belongings unattended or reserve seats. We also have signs, posters, and public announcements on good library etiquette to remind our library users.

As libraries are shared public spaces, we urge library users to be gracious by taking up seats only when they need to. We seek the cooperation of all users to be considerate so that our libraries are conducive for all to enjoy.

We thank Mr Tan for his continued support of our libraries.
