I am excited by the proposal to establish a heritage gallery at the Istana Park ("Gallery to offer year-round glimpse of Istana's treasures"; Sunday).

Besides other attractions, I will be able to see the gifts presented to our presidents over the years.

When I visit other countries, given the chance, I would wander into their museums to see state gifts, and look for gifts presented by Singapore.

More often than not, I see the Singapore gift displayed, usually beside a Singapore flag.

I suggest that the gallery display not only the gifts to the presidents, but also those presented to our other political leaders.

If it is not appropriate to do so, then I suggest setting up a separate gallery to display such gifts.
