Singapore Press Holdings' (SPH) Johnson Goh has won recognition from a regional organisation for his strong performance in marketing.

Mr Goh, the vice-president and head of business development, strategic marketing at SPH, was yesterday named Pacific Area Newspaper Publishers' Association (Panpa) 2014 Marketer of the Year.

The award recognises outstanding performance in marketing for a news publishing company.

Mr Goh previously headed SPH's Online Classifieds business.

He said: "I believe it is every marketer's dream to receive such an honourable award because it is an endorsement of our strategies, tactics and campaigns."

The achievement would not have been possible without the team that has worked with him and the trust and support given by the management, he added.

Mr Leslie Fong, SPH senior executive vice-president of marketing, called Mr Goh an "astute marketing professional" who led the Online Classifieds business to grow rapidly in the face of fierce competition.

"The success of our multiple online verticals is a testament to his leadership, marketing competence and flair," he said.

As the head of Online Classifieds in 2012, Mr Goh led a management team to develop and re-launch the business, which included STJobs, STProperty, STCars and STClassifieds.

He tapped on SPH's multiple platforms to reach out to the target audience via print, radio and mobile apps, among others.

"Mr Goh's work reaped tremendous results. The organic visits of its online classifieds portal grew by more than 200 per cent," said SPH in a statement.
