Singapore's STI closes 1.03% higher

Singapore shares climbed on Tuesday, with the key benchmark index ending the day up just over 1 per cent.

The Straits Times Index gained 32.39 points, or 1.03 per cent, to 3,173.32 at market close.

The key driver was positive data from the United States, showing that manufacturing expanded by more than expected in June.

Some 2.03 billion shares worth $1.20 billion changed hands on the STI on Tuesday, with gainers beating losers 310 to 111.
