Singapore shares end flat on downbeat United States jobs data

The Straits Times Index ended the day practically unchanged amid a mixed day on regional bourses after a disappointing batch of jobs and consumer data out of the United States.

The STI rose just 0.42 point, or 0.01 per cent, to close at 3,236.1 on Friday, pushing it 0.7 per cent higher than where it was a week ago.

Gainers outnumbered losers 249 to 193.

Some 2.68 billion shares changed hands with a traded value of $1.1 billion.
