Singapore shares chalk up weekly gain, the first in six weeks

Singapore shares ended higher, in line with regional markets as investors continued to pick up bargains following the global markets' rout for most of June.

The Straits Times Index (STI) ended 32.41 points or 1.04 per cent at 3,150.44.

For the week, the STI rose by a modest 0.83 per cent - its first weekly gain in six weeks.
