A 15-year-old resident at children's home Gracehaven home lied to police that she had sex with a 47-year-old bus driver. She had pleaded guilty in September to providing false information to two police officers. On Tuesday, the Juvenile Court sentenced her to 2 years' in the Singapore Girls' Home.

District Judge Edgar Foo said that there she would receive treatment from a psychologist as she needed to understand what is right and what is wrong. The judge also told the teen's parents that she had been "in the system for a while especially for her attraction to older people". She was sent to Gracehaven as she was deemed to be beyond parental control.

Court papers stated that on June 14, a staff member called and requested for police assistance. Later that day, the teen alleged to a police staff-sergeant that a bus driver had sex with her in Punggol Park in February. She repeated the false accusation to a police inspector four days later.

The bus driver was arrested on July 1. He maintained his innocence and during further investigations the teen confessed that she had lied to get him into trouble out of spite and jealousy.
