Representatives from Asean legal fraternities in town for meetings
Representatives from the legal fraternities of Asean countries, including seven chief justices, are in town for a series of meetings to discuss legal issues.
Hosted by the Supreme Court from Friday to Sunday, the 35th Governing Council Meeting of the Asean Law Association is attended by about 300 delegates from all ten Asean countries. Matters such as international law, business law and alternative dispute resolution will be discussed.
There will also be a special meeting for chief justices from around the region - the first of its kind.
The association said in a statement on Friday that support from members over the years has allowed lawyers to build relationships and work together on various areas, which would enhance Asean's standing internationally.
