A former assistant engineer with the Republic of Singapore Air Force was jailed for nine weeks on Monday for commercial sex with an underaged escort, the 29th man to be convicted in a long-running online vice case involving 51 men.

Goh Wee Seong, 35, now a courier delivery driver, admitted to paying $500 for the sexual services of the 17-year-old at Hotel 81 Bencoolen on Oct 23, 2010.

A district court heard that Goh came across a website in 2009 or 2010 through a thread of another website Sammy Boy Forum on escorts providing sexual services.

He sent text messages to the pimp, Tang Boon Thiew, to ask if the minor was available.

Tang confirmed that she was available on Oct 23, 2010, and that the sexual services would cost $500 for an hour. Goh proceeded to book a room at the Hotel 81 Bencoolen and subsequently paid $500 to the girl for her services.

Described as an excellent and exemplary soldier, Goh's lawyer S. Radakrishnan said his client suffered from depression.

Goh could have been jailed for up to seven years and/or fined for commercial sex with a person below 18 years old.

Twenty-eight others have been jailed between eight weeks and six months for paid sex with the girl in the online vice ring case.
