SEOUL - Calls for South Korea to have better options for nuclear deterrence have grown louder amid growing threats of a “nuclear war” from a Russia-assisted North.

As the two Koreas race to launch their first home-grown military spy satellites, observers have raised concerns that the United States, South Korea’s security ally, is being spread thin with the two wars ongoing in Ukraine and Gaza.
