As South Korea votes, I'm reminded of 1987 - a defining chapter in the nation's history

SINGAPORE - India's renowned philosopher and poet, Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore, expressed his admiration for Korea back in 1929, through a powerful verse which was published in the Korean daily, Dong-A Ilbo.

"In the golden age of Asia, Korea was one of its lamp-bearers. And that lamp is waiting to be lighted once again, for the illumination of the east."
